The Green Monster at Fenway Park is a popular nickname for this high left field wall. Fenway Park will be rocking this Tuesday as game 1 of the 2018 World Series will start.

I was fortunate to quickly photograph the Green Monster during my tour at Fenway Park last year.  This is the 2nd highest wall for a professional baseball field. It is the highest in the current MLB fields.

Wikipedia history about the Green Monster

The view is pretty great from the Green Monster. It is ironic how nice it is sit up here, since the original idea for a 25 foot high wooden fences was to prevent people from watching the Red Sox play for free.  Of course, it is not free to sit up there, but it is worth it to get a better view. It’s nice they added 269 seats in 2003 to replace the old nets.

Why was the Green Monster built?

The Green Monster is also known for its valuable space for displaying advertisements.  It still has the old concrete base and a hand-operated scoreboard – a rarity for today’s modern world. Celebrities even want to sign the Green Monster.

I loved seeing the Green Monster.  It reminds me a baseball field fortress with the different rigid upright structures. My experience in shooting Candlestick Park in San Francisco taught me to appreciate the art in a baseball stadium’s architecture. To me – the Green Monster is a piece of artwork at Fenway Park!

View from the Right Field Corner at Fenway Park

So, this Saturday, baseball fans will be eager to watch the Astros versus the Red Sox at Fenway Park to start the American League Championship Series.  This will be an interesting game with two well matched teams.

I took this photograph during my 2017 tour of Fenway Park! If you look at my blog, you are aware of my passion to take stadium photographs.  I took a lot of Candlestick Park photographs while I studied for my Fine Art Photography degree at the Academy of Art. I wonder if I have the largest collection of Candlestick Park photographs

Fenway park has an interesting seating arrangement. Even the stripes created by the lawn mower are a little curved to match the field configuration. I wish I had more time to roam around this empty stadium to take more photographs. I love finding “art” in a stadium structure.

We are all looking forward to the rocking excitement that will happen at this Saturday’s ballgame! There’s nothing better than watching two equal teams compete and see who will be the AL representative for the 2018 World Series.

Very impressive display that has to be seen in person

As a baseball fan, I was very impressed by the Fenway Park Living Museum. I could have spent hours in there but unfortunately only had 10 minutes.  We had to rush through the museum as we had another scheduled tour to go to across town in Somerville that started in 30 minutes. This is another good reason for me to go back to Fenway Park for a Red Sox game in the future.

Fantastic seats behind home plate at Fenway Park. Would love to sit in this section during a Red Sox game. But it was really cool to see Fenway Park on the ballpark tours they offer to the public.

During the latter part of our Fenway Park tour, our tour guide – Mr. Andrew Katz – asked the group for questions about this ballpark.  I was the first one to ask a question.  I asked if the stadium is used for any other sporting events.  He replied college football games and ski jumps also happen at the ballpark.  Other visitors asked more questions which I unfortunately cannot remember.

Mr. Katz did a great job with his presentation about Fenway Park.  He informed us about the history and interesting facts about the stadium.  He told us a lot of great stories and was very friendly.

I love sports stadiums.  My goal is to visit ballparks to photograph more stadium art!

I have always wondered what was behind Fenway Park. I am glad I went on the ballpark tour a few weeks ago and took a lot of pictures in and around the stadium. This picture satisfied one of my curiosity of what is behind Fenway. I learned that Brookline Ave and Landsdowne St are behind the Northwest side of Fenway. You can also see Sal’s Pizza and Cask’n Flagon in the picture. Now I need to go to Fenway Park when the Red Sox play a game.

I enjoyed going on the Fenway Park tour to see this ballpark’s many unique characteristics that make this stadium different than the rest in Major League Baseball. I am so glad that the Red Sox decided to stay at Fenway rather than build a new stadium and move to a different site.

My buddy Larry and I took a ballpark tour of Fenway Park on 10/14/17. It was on my bucket list to see Fenway for the first time and I am so glad we went on the tour. There is so much history in this stadium and the sight lines are incredible. Our tour guide was outstanding and presented us with a lot of history and stories about Fenway. I would highly recommend that you take the tour of Fenway if you have not been there before. It is the oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball but it has a tremendous amount of character and charm. I want to go back there to photograph and watch a baseball game in the future. It was really cool to see The Green Monster in person.
