Should we retreat to Rolling Ridge Conference in Massachusetts?

Lake Cochichewick, Massachusetts, North Andover, Rolling Ridge, Rolling Ridge Conference Center

About 3 years ago, I visited my buddy at Rolling Ridge Conference Center in North Andover, Massachusetts. I enjoyed my visit touring around Boston and the near-by towns. I spent a week here and enjoyed the quiet scenery at this center.

This conference center is the perfect enchanting refuge to get away from life’s worries.

See the glimmer of Lake Cochichewick thru the trees. The trees provide wonderful shade to keep cool from the sun.

We all can appreciate the quietness of these surroundings. This is the perfect place to meditate and refocus one’s priorities.

Today we all are concerned with the world’s affairs of a pandemic and racism. The world is seeking to eradicate both diseases.

Most of us are tired of all this stress. It is attractive to contemplate about achieving an escape and to find a refuge to relax.

We all need to spend time to focus on God and His Creation to destress and let go of our worries. This is the perfect place to run and escape.

Focusing on the Creator and His nature allows us to realize how great He is.

Considering to travel to retreat? Yes, consider a short trip to a location where one could feel safe and secure. Many of us may not feel safe to hop on an airplane. But consider where you can go which is closer to home. Since businesses are opening, where can you go to relax and regroup?

Our country’s problems with the pandemic and racism can be resolved over time. But in the meantime, ponder how to take a break in nature.

If you reside in Massachusetts, consider spending a day or two at Rolling Ridge to discover the quietness of nature and rest.

Welcome to the beautiful Rolling Ridge retreat and Conference Center in North Andover, MA.

Here is the link to Rolling Ridge

Fall Foliage is right around the corner. Anticipating the color changes in the leaves gets me very excited. I love seeing the transformation of leave colors and capturing the different patterns. Every fall leaf is unique in the array of colors.

I traveled to Lake Cochichewick in the fall a couple of years ago. As seen in my photograph, my timing to see the changed colors in the leaves was off.

But I do love the tall trees with the shadow projections on the ground. The green trees have their own glow in front of the lake. At the time of this photograph, the trees will be changing colors later.

Reflecting on this photograph reminds us how life is full of changes. No matter how much we want life to remain the same, life continues to evolve for better or worse. But as these trees stand tall and beautiful with their shadows, so we should learn to stand in the same way even when change is inevitable.

Let’s learn a lesson from the trees at Lake Cochichewick in Massachusetts to stand strong to face life changes to become our best.

On Top of the Green Monster

The Green Monster at Fenway Park is a popular nickname for this high left field wall. Fenway Park will be rocking this Tuesday as game 1 of the 2018 World Series will start.

I was fortunate to quickly photograph the Green Monster during my tour at Fenway Park last year.  This is the 2nd highest wall for a professional baseball field. It is the highest in the current MLB fields.

Wikipedia history about the Green Monster

The view is pretty great from the Green Monster. It is ironic how nice it is sit up here, since the original idea for a 25 foot high wooden fences was to prevent people from watching the Red Sox play for free.  Of course, it is not free to sit up there, but it is worth it to get a better view. It’s nice they added 269 seats in 2003 to replace the old nets.

Why was the Green Monster built?

The Green Monster is also known for its valuable space for displaying advertisements.  It still has the old concrete base and a hand-operated scoreboard – a rarity for today’s modern world. Celebrities even want to sign the Green Monster.

I loved seeing the Green Monster.  It reminds me a baseball field fortress with the different rigid upright structures. My experience in shooting Candlestick Park in San Francisco taught me to appreciate the art in a baseball stadium’s architecture. To me – the Green Monster is a piece of artwork at Fenway Park!

I enjoyed going on the Fenway Park tour to see this ballpark’s many unique characteristics that make this stadium different than the rest in Major League Baseball. I am so glad that the Red Sox decided to stay at Fenway rather than build a new stadium and move to a different site.

My buddy Larry and I took a ballpark tour of Fenway Park on 10/14/17. It was on my bucket list to see Fenway for the first time and I am so glad we went on the tour. There is so much history in this stadium and the sight lines are incredible. Our tour guide was outstanding and presented us with a lot of history and stories about Fenway. I would highly recommend that you take the tour of Fenway if you have not been there before. It is the oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball but it has a tremendous amount of character and charm. I want to go back there to photograph and watch a baseball game in the future. It was really cool to see The Green Monster in person.

I was walking in the woods at Rolling Ridge Conference Center in North Andover, MA, and spotted this fallen Maple leaf that had lodged itself between some tree branches. The sun was low on the horizon and highlighting the leaf on this warm Autumn mid-October afternoon a few weeks ago.

I noticed the changing of the leaves on some of the trees at Rolling Ridge Conference Center in North Andover, MA. The photograph was taken on 10/12/17, and was the beginning of the color changes on some of the trees. I was glad it was sunny this day as it highlighted the leaves and background. It was breezing that day so I had to use a higher shutter speed and be patient as the wind died down.

The conference center is a wonderful place to visit as the property has a lot of charm and character to it. It has hiking trails and is on the the shores of scenic Lake Cochichewick. The conference center has canoes and kayaks for the guest to use on the lake. The buildings, fountains, forests, and open meadows have a timeless feel to them and I really enjoyed photographing on sight. I would like to see this place during all the different seasons.

The weather was comfortable while I was taking pictures on the grounds of Rolling Ridge Retreat and Conference Center. I could have spent many more hour taking pictures but was limited by the setting sun. The grounds are so peaceful and relaxing and the staff very friendly.

I was visiting a longtime buddy of mine, Larry Jay, who is the Executive Director at Rolling Ridge. I am very impressed by the operations and staff at Rolling Ridge and would enjoy visiting the conference center again in the future. I also must mention the meals served in the beautiful Lakeside Gallery Dining Room are outstanding! Thank you very much to the food service team!

Walk thru Rolling Ridge Retreat Conference center as you look at these pictures.  The picture sequence shows you how it would be like as you enter the grounds.

It was an experience to enjoy this mansion estate property.  It is a nice escape to go and focus on God’s creation and beauty.

I especially liked the arches with the blue ceiling which reminded me of the blue sky. The architecture design is different than what I see in California.  The vast greenery is very peaceful.  It was a nice escape for me to get away from the concrete jungle of San Francisco.

These grounds are ideal to retreat away temporary from the world to focus on our relationship with God.
