Willie Mays 75th Birthday at AT&T Park on 5/12/06

Giant 75th Birthday Cake for the Say Hey Kid

The late great Peter Magowan speaking at the occasion.

Willie Mays, the great Hall of Famer

Greatest Baseball Player of All-Time.

How many of us had the privilege to be at Willie Mays’ 75th birthday celebration at AT&T Park? We are blessed we can celebrate Willie’s 89th birthday on May 6, 2020.

This was a fun time back on his 75th birthday! The 75 on the field was his cake. It was huge! We could witness him speak on his special day.

There was a colorful array of balloons released after Willie Mays spoke!

Willie Mays is my favorite baseball player. Why is he my favorite?

  • He is a 5 tool baseball player – meaning he possessed speed, power, hitting for average, fielding, and arm strength.
  • He is an Army veteran who served our country during the Korean War. He missed most of the season in 1952 and missed all of the 1953 season. Willie played baseball at Fort Eustis in Virginia during most of his service in the Army.
  • Even with all his honors and awards, he is just the “Say Hey” kid.

I admire Willie Mays for his humility even with all his accomplishments and awards. He is a real icon for us to look up to. Often times in our society, we are disappointed with the selfish motives from our country’s leaders or popular celebrities. But Willie Mays is the real thing. He is authentic and real.

I love the story where he charged $100 per an on-air interview. The normal charge was $25 for that era. He charged the $100 so he could split the money 4 ways with the last 4 players on the Giants’ roster.

Willie Mays is an unselfish man to admire in the midst of our self-centered society.

These photos show us a great man – Willie Mays!

What is Inspirational at Oracle Park?

Have you ever spent time looking at the statue of “The Say Hey Kid”?

Often times, we are focused on getting into the stadium and to our seats. We are excited of the prospect of the SF Giants winning. We are thinking about what we will eat or drink during the game. Or maybe we want to go to the Dugout store to see the new gear we could purchase.

Next time, take time and look at Willie May’s statute.

It is interesting to see what the plaque says on the statue –
“One of baseball’s most colorful and exciting stars excelled in all phases of the game”

Willie Mays’ accomplishments are amazing.

I love the expression on his face. He is smiling and looking up. You can see how he just hit a ball and is looking at where it flew.

Maybe this is how we should approach life. We may not be able to hit multiple home runs. What are we trying to accomplish in life? What are our goals? Do we have goals? We should create goals that make us smile with hope.

Can we try to smile and look up to accomplish something which would be beneficial to our world? Don’t underestimate what you can accomplish with your goals.

Willie Mays’ smile inspires us to hope!

These pictures were taken at AT&T Park on May 12, 2006, as part of the pre-game ceremony for Willie Mays’ 75th birthday. Willie Mays is one of my all time favorite players. It was great to watch the festivities for his 75th birthday.

It is a great blessing that Willie Mays could celebrate his 88th birthday this week on May 6. Willie Mays has been retired for 46 years – after the 1973 season.

Birthdays are a reminder how fast time goes. It did not seem that long ago I was at AT&T Park watching Willie Mays stand on the field and be honored by all the fans. We need to honor those whom we respect in our lives.

Who in your life can you show respect today? Make someone’s day by showing respect.

Willie Mays “24” from Candlestick Park

We created a video to demonstrate how to wear our Scenic Magnetic Pins.  We are making Magnet Pins from our different photographs!  It is fun to wear pretty scenes to match our outfits and to accessorize.  The pins have a protective coating which also give a texture effect.

Scenic Photographs can improve our moods and inspire us in different ways.  This is why we are creating scenic magnetic pins to inspire style and help us appreciate nature or even the San Francisco Giants.  The above Willie Mays Pin is a photograph taken from over 25 years ago at Candlestick Park.  For Sport Fans, this is a cool pin to wear to remember Willie Mays’ great talent in baseball.

Let’s create a new style trend by wearing Scenic Magnetic Pins.

Please look at our YouTube Video at the below link.  You can also look at our tab on this website to see our Pins which can also be ordered at this url.  Or you can purchase these pins at the below link for our Etsy Shop.

Who is this little boy at Candlestick Park?

24, Boy, New England Patriots, Tom Brady, Willie Mays

This photograph was taken by Tony in 1988. This is the retired number “24” of the great Willie Mays from Candlestick Park. Tony took the photograph of the little boy to show the size of round disk in comparison to the boy’s size.

We posted this photograph on Twitter and @ChrisBabcock2 responded with the opinion – this is Tom Brady! We googled to see younger photographs of Tom Brady, and it does look like him.

We are seeking to get verification if this photograph is truly Tom Brady – the quarterback of the New England Patriots who has won 5 Super Bowls.

This incidents reminds us that we should always take lots of photographs. You never know what kind of memories, people, scenes, or objects you will capture. Especially with digital photography, there are no limits to the quantity of pictures you can take. Once a moment passes, it will never come back again. Regardless who the boy is in this picture, the photo captures a boy’s excitement of being at Candlestick Park to watch a San Francisco Giants game!

Lastly can anyone confirm if this boy is Tom Brady?

Tony Bennett sang “America the Beautiful” and of course – “I Left My Heart in San Francisco”  Click on the link to see some old memories Tony Bennett singing in addition to the actual game.

This was a memorable opening day.  Willie Mays presented his godson – Barry Bonds – the 1992 National League MVP trophy while he was with the Pittsburgh Pirates.  This was Barry Bonds first year playing with the SF Giants.
